More loving than usual
Text: Poncho Paradela
In a way, Made in the dark, the previous work of Hot Chip was some disappointing, guiltily for this was that The warning, the album that shot to fame the london quartet had set the bar too high. Now they are back with “One Life Stand”, his fourth and particular hymn to love, that this time left us deeply in love.

Hot Chip signed huge songs. If Coming on strong had Keep fallin, The warning dazzled with Boys from the school or Over and over, while Made in the dark surprised with Hold On and Ready for the floor. For their part, One Life Stand meets with Thieves in the night and Take it in to name just two. So once the hit quota is fulfilled it’s time to see if we are in front of an uneven record as the third, or a round one, like the celebrated The warning. Luckily it’s the latter. One Life Stand is fully enjoyable from start to the end, with anyirregularity while listening. In sound, this is the quieter work of the quartet that follows the electronic line-based synthesizer but more closer to pop than ever.
We leave you with the video of One life stand, the track that gives name to the album. Enjoy.
