From September, Pull & Bear will be marketing a sports collection inspired by the boxer Muhammad Ali consisting of T-shirts, sweatshirts and sweatpants. A bathrobe completes the collection. This line will be available in the more than 650 stores that Pull & Bear has in 45 countries.
Muhammad Ali was an American boxer and three-time World Heavyweight Champion. He is considered one of the most important figures in the history of boxing in this category. However, in 1967 he refused to join the American army citing his religious beliefs and his opposition to the Vietnam War. He was arrested, declared guilty of evasion of military service and his boxing license was withdrawn. He wasn’t sent to prison, but he didn’t box for almost four years while his appeal went to the Supreme Court and was finally accepted.
He was nicknamed “The Greatest” and was especially well known for his unorthodox boxing style that he himself described as “float like a butterfly, sting like a bee”, and for using techniques like rope-a-dope. He was also known for his provocations before each fight. In 1999, the magazine Sports Illustrated named him “Sportsman of the Century”.
Now Pull & Bear has brought back his image in a collection that serves both as sportswear and as leisure wear.

BONNIE AND CLYDE
The 1967 gangster film “Bonnie and Clyde” tells the story of two bank robbers who fall in love and travel through the United States leaving a trail of death and crime in their wake. The film is set in the Great Depression of the 1930s and is an authentic road movie which has left a great aesthetic legacy. Taking its inspiration from this legacy, Pull & Bear has created a collection of simple shapes with romantic trimmings. Skinny pants, double-breasted coats, combinations of tweed and herringbone skirts and dresses, knitted garments in soft tones and discreet jacquards, two-colour striped T-shirts and shirts, hand-drawn floral prints on black backgrounds… in short, a simple but strong look. Colours range from greys to smoky blues with splashes of red.

MY BELOVED WATSON
Based on the feel of the Sherlock Holmes novels, the famous fictitious detective created in 1887 by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, this collection by Pull & Bear revives the traditional English gentleman look from the end of the XIX century. The resulting collection uses classic tailoring fabrics like Harris Tweed, and has a certain masculine influence. Riding pants, jackets with matching waistcoats, pencil skirts and faux suede providing subtle contrasts. The predominantly autumnal colours include burnt oranges and countryside greens. There are also large and small floral prints in pale cream tones contrasted with intense petrol blues.

PIN-UP GRANNY
Shapes inspired by the 1950s which are combined with retro-school girl influences. Cinched waists, full skirts with piping details. Delicate tweeds which combine with fun prints like animals, objects, small flowers… In this way, an attractive collection with a marked vintage touch has been created. Notable trimmings include lace edging in cream and light blue tones which are mixed with masculine fabrics like wool or towelled jerseys. The colours include corals and watery greens over grey backgrounds.

LOVE STORY
Love story, widely considered the best romantic film of all time, was made in 1970 and directed by Arthur Hiller. The setting is contemporary university life and it is precisely those colours and patterns from the period which are depicted in the film. Bell-bottom trousers, long skirts, fur coats, leather jackets and shorts in muted mustard and burgundy colours. Light fabrics for dresses and shirts with large floral prints, irregular stripes and checks in dark tones.

MONTGOMERY HIGH SCHOOL
This high school in Santa Rosa (California) opened in 1958 and now serves as an influence for Pull & Bear to create a casual and free-and-easy collection for adolescents. Made up of double-buttoned woollen duffel coats, retro-style tailored designs, pinafore dresses, high-waisted trousers, small jacquards and large-check shirts. All accompanied by woollen tights or socks.

MOD
The mod movement was a musical and cultural influence based on the fashion and music which developed in London at the end of the 50s and reached its climax at the beginning of the 60s. The world was recovering from that century’s two world wars and was beginning to think about other things. It was the era of sexual and political liberation and citizens were starting to protest. People needed to show that they were different and so, in industrial working class England, a group of youths who declared themselves fans of modern jazz appeared on the scene. They would later become interested in rhythm and blues, soul and ska. It was the era of the scooter, ties, polo shirts, and tight-fitting jackets, and groups like Small Faces, The Kinks, The Who and The Action would soon emerge.
British indie kids have resurrected this fashion and Pull & Bear has picked it up this winter to offer a genuinely mod range of British “union jack” colours: red, navy and bright blues and white. Jerseys, polo shirts and extremely skinny trousers, creating slim figures, teamed with short-sleeved check shirts and T-shirts with the British flag.

CRUSTIES
And suddenly the anti-fashion people appeared, but trendsetters from all over the world helped make this way of dressing so popular that, yet again this season, this look is going to be big. They are renowned for their dishevelled and tangled hair, and the worn-out look of all their clothes. Pull & Bear has again revived the look of these young people who dress half way between punks, hippies and squatters. Very tight trousers, the classic five-pocket skinny pants, washed and with tobacco-coloured stitching, as well as bigger and more comfortable shapes, with Turkish patterns, both in Bermuda shorts and in long trousers. Vintage-feel destroyed T-shirts with an almost second-hand look, and double-faced check shirts, hooded and granddad shirts as well as linen. Aged leather jackets and military or suede boots complete the look. Colours include grey tones with white and tobacco.
Later on in the season, this trend will incorporate heavy knit garments with longer and chunky cardigans or sweaters which could well have come from your grandfather’s wardrobe. Melanges and twisted yarns are also important. Wider trousers both in wool and brushed cotton, parkas, woollen cloth or herringbone waistcoats… and as for accessories, extra-long scarves, woolly hats with fur appliques and mittens. All in greys, browns and off-white.

STREET
After a long summer, September means back-to-school. For all young students, Pull & Bear offers a complete street collection in a range of colours in which red, beige, light grey, white and dark blue dominate. Basic jeans at great prices accessible to all budgets, and chino pants with check piping hemline. The jackets and cardigans have traditional university patches and the prints on the T-shirts remind us of college styles.

VICIOUS
Aimed more at rockers who have been influenced by the Sex Pistols’ punk and who dress with a rebellious touch based on black, khaki, white and blood red. Military trimmings feature on jerseys and tight cargo pants together with skinny jeans. Colours for T-shirts are pastel yellow, black and purple, with prints making clear references to the punk aesthetic. Braces and studded belts complete the look. Skinny pants with biker trimmings and knitted garments with skull prints are the highlight of this collection.

CENTURY STAR
This collection features the all time favourite denim, with the rivets, the cuts, shapes and finishing of the pockets all receiving special attention. Denim trousers and jackets are backed up by striped jerseys and sweatshirts combined with check shirts. Both the polo shirts and the knitwear garments are covered in patches and alphanumeric prints. The different blue denim washes combine perfectly with the rest of the garments made in whites and strong and navy blues.

SOHO
A casual trend with relaxed patterns, designed for urbanites. The colours range from khakis and beige to grey with splashes of light blues and crispy white. The duffel coat is one of the main garments, together with cotton jackets, woollen cardigans and chino pants. Soft washes on woollen garments and shirts made of soft, light fabrics.
Later on in the season, padded jackets and coats with removable lining will be added. Even the classic woollen coats will make an appearance. Also cargo pants accompanied by small-jacquard knitwear and small-check shirts. This time, black and the mid-blues mixed with beige are included.

SICKO 19
The whole collection revolves around radical denim, with aggressive washes; it is worn, broken and even stained with paint. Flannel shirts, check jackets with pile and jacquard knitwear give a lumberjack look. For accessories, tube scarves and woolly hats also in jacquard with fake fur linings. The colours range from off-white and red to blue with small splashes of light green.

SEA WOLF
The sea wolves, those classic sailors who battle against the winter with chunky woollen jerseys with cables, turtle necks and classic navy stripe woollen garments have served as inspiration. Double-breasted and double buttoned woollen jackets are must-have garments. Sailor patches and pirate logos in t-shirts. Dark, stiff denim trousers complete the look.
